Is the Death Penalty Contrary to the Gospel?
Is the death penalty always evil? That is what the Pope seems to be saying when he recently stated, "the death penalty is contrary to the Gospel.” Many have taken issue with this statement. Why, because it goes against the traditional teaching of the Church on the death penalty. If something is intrinsically evil it is always intrinsically evil. What are Catholics to think? Come and discover the truth of the matter as our debaters spar over the issue at the next AOTM.
