From its very beginning the Catholic Church has been the target of hatred and attacks. However, since the Enlightenment and the French Revolution, the attack on the Church has been different in kind and continuous. This attack has exploded not only Christian but human categories. What has been the nature of this revolution and what does it portend for the future? Fr. Michael Keating of the University of St. Thomas will attempt to draw connections between the last two centuries’ attacks on the Church and illuminate the challenges of the future, showing how current battles fit in the larger fight for the Church’s survival.
