Is Islam a Religion of Peace?
Presidents have claimed that it is: "Terrorism is not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace.” – George Bush, September 17, 2001
Popes have referred to Muslims as ‘brothers’: "Dear Muslims, my brothers, I would like to add that we Christians, just like you, seek the basis and model of mercy in God himself, the God to whom your book gives the very beautiful name of al-Rahman, while the Bibles calls him al-Rahum, the Merciful One.” – Pope John Paul II, Philippines, Feb. 20, 1981
Pope Francis insisted that "authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Quran are opposed to every form of violence…Every religion wants peace.”
Was Pope Francis right?
Not according to the folks he was trying to pacify, who in reply threatened to come after him, arguing that their religion itself advocates violence against all Christians and Jews who refuse to convert to Allah.

Do we take them at their word?
But many of us know peaceful and kind Muslims in our neighborhoods or places of employment. We’ve all seen high-profile Islamic spokesmen on the big news networks, claiming that Islam is peaceful and it is only certain groups within Islam that are violent.
Who are we to believe?
It’s kind of a big deal, because if Islam is not peaceful at its heart—if the Koran itself calls for violence—God help us, as millions of ollowers of Allah stream into our country every year.
We Need to Know the Truth…RIGHT NOW!
This is why the AOTM is proud to welcome an expert on Islam—Robert Spencer of "Jihad Watch"—to debate a Catholic defender of what popes, cardinals and so many Catholics today believe: That Islam is a religion of peace.
Trouble is, everyone we’ve asked to defend this proposition has turned us down or gone silent.
- We asked Msgr. Stuart Swetland, who debated Mr. Spencer on Relevant Radio…and lost handily. (He’s not gotten back to us yet.)
- We asked Professor Dominic Longo of St. Thomas University’s Muslim-Christian Dialogue Center. (He didn’t even return our calls.)
- We asked Peter Kreeft, who was kind and very gracious but said he couldn’t do it until 2017. (And that ain’t gonna work!)
So we’re left to challenge any respected Catholic debater/speaker to come in here and debate the proposition: Islam Is a Religion of Peace. We can’t have it both ways!
- Either Islam is a religion of peace, and Mr. Spencer needs to stop with the slander.
- Or Islam is not a religion of peace, and Mr. Spencer needs to be heard—regardless of how politically incorrect it is.
And if we have to gather AOTM’s Grill Team to play Devil’s advocate in the name of the ecumenical Catholic no-shows— we will.
One way or the other, we’re going to cut through the political correctness and fuzzy theology to get to the truth:
- What does Islam actually teach as core beliefs?
- What is the Catholic Church’s understanding of the "religion of peace”?
- Do we all really worship the same God?
- Is peace at the heart of the Muslim religion?
- Are Jesus Christ and The Prophet looking down on us from heaven above, encouraging us to not worry and be happy
Come on out next Monday—the night before the biggest election in years—and let’s get to the bottom of the one of the biggest issues of the day: Is Islam a Religion of Peace?

2015-16 season passes honored through Nov 2016!
Because AOTM had to cancel two events last season we will honor 2015-16 Season Passes through the November 2016 event. We do our best to keep costs low and affordable so as many can come as possible. However we are expecting to fill to capacity and therefore seating is limited. I am not able to hold seats open for season holder in case they show. I need to fill the seat to pay the cost of the event. If you are a season pass holder of 2015-16 you must email both jteske@aotmclub.com and kent@aotmclub.com to RSVP for the October 2016 event. I am doing this to avoid an email getting lost. This will not be required in Nov. Show up in November and present your card to the doorman as usual. Also our costs for the October 2016 event is much higher given the speakers and outdoor activities. Therefore the ticket price is more than usual for this October event and ask you pay $5 at the door (2015-16 Season Pass holders only).
