Can a Catholic Support Trump's Immigration Policies? |
4/11/2017 |
ARE THE TRUMP IMMIGRATION POLICIES AT ODDS WITH CATHOLIC TEACHING?
It would seem so. The Pope has been very critical of Trump in regards to his immigration policies and the Bishops show great concern and have been pro immigration for years. That leaves Trump supporting Catholics open to being accused of disobedience to the Pope, the Bishops and the gospel. A quick look at the Catholic Catechism's teaching on immigration would lead the Trump supporter to believe they are in line with Church teaching. What are Catholics to make of this?
Confused about Trump's immigration policies and how to respond? So are we. Join us April 11 to hear the issues explained and debated. Fr. Echert, EWTN Catholic Expert and top US scripture scholar, will debate Jason Adkins, Executive Director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, to address whether a Catholic can support President Trump's immigration policies. Mr. Adkins will represent the position of the Minnesota bishops and explain why Catholics should think twice before embracing Trump's stance on immigration. Fr. Echert thinks there's another side to the argument. Come and hear the policies, objections and principles Catholic men need to understand in order to have an informed opinion on one of the most contested issue of our time, immigration!
